Pioneering the future of quantum-resistant blockchain
QDay’s development of quantum-resistant security will be carried out in two main phases:
Phase 1: L1-Assisted Quantum-Resistant Rollups with EVM Compatibility
QDay will introduce a quantum-resistant ledger by integrating ZK Rollups with the Abelian Blockchain, while maintaining EVM compatibility through the account model and smart contract functionalities. This transition will be smooth for Ethereum developers, enabling the use of existing Ethereum tools and languages. With Layer 1-assisted quantum-resistant rollups, QDay will protect against quantum attacks aimed at altering ledger data, including transaction orders, amounts, and state structures. Furthermore, if any attacks are detected, QDay can prevent fund loss by temporarily halting rollup execution in a quantum-resistant manner, ensuring that attackers cannot proceed once the rollups are halted, as they cannot forge the quantum-resistant signatures generated by the rollup operators.
Phase 2: L2-Native Quantum-Resistant Accounts and Smart Contracts
In this phase, QDay will launch quantum-resistant accounts by incorporating new secure keys into existing accounts, enabling operations that utilize these keys. To facilitate this, QDay's EVM will be upgraded to support post-quantum cryptographic keys and algorithms.
QDay will support two types of smart contracts: traditional and quantum-resistant. Wallets compatible with EVM smart contracts will continue to support traditional contracts, while quantum-resistant contracts will be exclusively accessible through wallets equipped with QDay’s advanced security features.
While these two quantum-resistant mechanisms function independently, they reinforce each other. One protects ledger data from quantum attacks, while the other secures individual accounts. Together, they provide QDay with strong, multi-layered security.
Even if an attacker gains access to private keys - whether through hacking or other means - funds remain protected. Aggregation can be paused, affected accounts frozen, and then safely reinstated. These actions rely on the consensus of rollup operators, ensuring that the system stays decentralized while effectively countering quantum threats.
